The community unites for Seventh Annual “Rise Up for Ryan” Tournament and Suicide Awareness Walk honoring Ryan Patrick O’Shea’s legacy with basketball, remembrance, and vital mental health resources.

Community members and supporters gathered at the St. Agnes Parish Center for the Ryan Patrick O’Shea Foundation’s 7th annual “Rise Up for Ryan” fundraiser, uniting the Long Island community in support of suicide prevention and mental health awareness. 

St. Agnes Cathedral held its 4th Annual Bazaar from June 19-22, 2025. It was a place where faith, fun, and fellowship came alive! But before stepping into a world of adventurous rides, delicious treats, and exciting games, visitors got to visit the Ryan Patrick O’Shea Foundation tent and take a moment to discover how THEY ARE a part of something special.

Nassau County Legislator Scott M. Davis (D-Rockville Centre) proudly attended and supported the annual Rise Up for Ryan fundraiser at the St. Agnes Parish Center in Rockville Centre on June 7. The event is hosted by the Ryan Patrick O’Shea Foundation, a 501(c)(3) foundation that is committed to increasing mental health awareness and education in its mission to prevent suicide.

The Sixth Annual “Rise Up for Ryan” Fundraiser was held on Saturday, June 7th at the St. Agnes Parish Center and was a Night to Remember!

From growing up in Fall River, MA to playing Division 1 basketball and in the NBA, Chris Herren will take the audience on his journey from addiction to sobriety. The event will start with a 5-minute film introducing Herren and showing highlights of his basketball career and his dream to play in the NBA which began to unravel by making a few bad decisions.

The Ryan Patrick O’Shea Foundation was recognized by the NY Islanders at their home game on March 24th at UBS. 25% of the amount collected from the 50/50 raffle was donated to our foundation! Thank you NY Islanders for spotlighting the Ryan Patrick O’Shea Foundation and to all of our volunteers & and friends & family for coming out tonight to support our cause.

Once again the Ryan Patrick O’Shea Foundation marched in the Rockville Centre St. Patrick's Parade to spread our message with the community.

A Rockville Centre officer used special training to help talk a suicidal man off the ledge of a building.

The Town of Hempstead and the Ryan Patrick O’Shea Foundation have teamed up for the second consecutive year to present a suicide prevention and awareness event after last year’s success.

The goal of signage soon to be placed at the Rockville Centre train station is to prevent suicide.

Administrators in Half Hollow Hills have been busy getting ready for the 2024-2025 school year by participating in professional development sessions at their Leadership Retreat that included training on how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among children and adolescents, as well as learning about the indicators of abuse and how to promote resilience.

The Ryan Patrick O’Shea Foundation proudly hosted its fifth annual “Rise Up for Ryan” 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament and Suicide Awareness Walk, bringing together friends, families, and neighbors to honor Ryan’s memory and support mental health awareness.

The Ryan Patrick O’Shea Foundation spreads a positive message during the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Named in memory of a South Side High School graduate who committed suicide in January 2019, the foundation works to break the stigma by promoting mental health awareness in local schools and communities.

The RPO Foundation had a wonderful time at the NY Islanders’ Mental Health Awareness game on January 9th! Thank you to the 130 Ryan Patrick O’Shea supporters who came out on a very rainy & windy evening to support our cause! Thank you to the Islanders for welcoming us and inviting the RPO Section down onto the ice after the game.

In recognition of Suicide Awareness Month, the Town of Hempstead has teamed up with the Ryan Patrick O’Shea Foundation of Rockville Centre to host its first suicide prevention and awareness event, on Sept. 26, at the Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion in Hempstead.

The Ryan Patrick O’Shea Foundation proudly hosted its fourth annual “Rise Up for Ryan” 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament and Suicide Awareness Walk, bringing the community together again to honor Ryan’s legacy through sport, remembrance, and connection.

The Fourth Annual Rise Up for Ryan event was on Thursday July 27, 2023. Join with us to increase mental health awareness and provide education to help prevent suicide.

The Rockville Centre St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee gathered at Kasey’s Kitchen and Cocktails on May 24 to present each of the three charities — one local, one national, and one based in Ireland — with a check for $60,000.
